Charles stayed here for a month recovering from his gunshot wound that he received in Marseilles.
Marseilles: APR 1917 - APR 1918
Charles fought in Marseilles. He was wounded in action by a gunshot to the right shoulder.
Egypt Training: MAR 1916 - APR 1917
Charles was stationed in Egypt for war training.
Oxford Hospital - NOV 1915 - MAR 1916
Charles spent the last of his time recovering from bronchitis in an Oxford hospital. This concluded his 7 month tangle with bronchitis and he was sent to Alexandria and Ghezirah in Egypt.
Valletta Military Hospital: SEP 1915 - NOV 1915
Charles stayed here for around 2 months while he recovered from bronchitis. He was moved to a hospital in Oxford, England in November.
Gallipoli: August 1915 - September 1915
Charles Ellifson arrived in Gallipoli 4 months after the big battle at ANZAC Cove on April 25th. Around 900 ANZAC soldiers were killed that day and another 2000 wounded, so spirits were low.
